A 50 year old man from Russia has completed the first ever Basejump from the highest point in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro at 5,895m.
Valery Rozo, wore his Redbull Base wingsuit to make the jump after his third attempt due to poor weather and unable to find a vertical enough point to jump. The previous night he slept in the crator of the mountain 5,750m high up before making the 3km horizontal distance down the mountain to land at base camp around 3,950m. The 3km flight was more than one minute of pure freefall.
No stranger to BASE jumping Valery’s last jump was from the legendary Everest and has once jumped from the 7,220m point making the first wingsuit flight off the mountain.
