My first rush was in 2016, I signed up for 2017 straight afterwards! It was so much fun. Nuclear never disappoints with challenging obstacles and so much mud. After completing 2 Fallouts, I enjoyed Rush so much more – as you don’t have the added toughness of the wet and cold weather! Marshals and staff are friendly and great as always. The added touch of kickers on the deathslide was great, as well as new obstacles such as Mutts Nutts, Isotope and the Helix (to name a few)! I always highly recommend Nuclear to everyone, whether you are a new starter or an experienced OCR.

The event was brilliant, from start to finish! It was very well organised and the success is clearly down to the dedication of Race Director James Parrish, as well as the whole Nuclear Team, Angels, and Marshals. Nuclear Races are amazing events with an brilliant atmosphere that simply cannot be beaten and I look forward to racing with them again.

The obstacles were numerous and all very different. Each of them required different skills to overcome – some you had to climb, others weave, others you simply had to survive. Between the recognised obstacles, novice runners such as myself (although not much actual running happened) and also the more experience OCR lovers, had to tackle the elements. With low hanging branches, lots of thorny bushes, and of course lots of mud, it is inevitable that accidents happened. The mud had been churned up all weekend which meant that it was lovely and sticky, and I’m sure a few shoes got swallowed up by the mud.

  3. Mud, mud and more mud!!….. That’s what comes to mind when I think of Nuclear Races… Oh yeah… And the awesome water slide…. And the unbelievable zip wire…. And the longest set of monkey bars in the business…. And so on!
A race that just brings everything to the table and leaves you wanting more, albeit physically incapable of giving any more as the course takes everything out of you!
One of the most fun, yet challenging races out there and it’s no wonder they have a die hard following, who regularly go back to experience everything on offer, from the 6k, right up to Oblivion!!!

nuclear rush recharged on the Sunday was my first ever nuclear race and im glad to say it wont be my last James and his team have put together a awesome course and with the price you pay and the amount of obstacles there is you get excellent value for money.
I came away with my hair solid with mud and a huge smile on my face I really felt challenged
I would recommend a nuclear race to any newbie thinking of doing a ocr event as its fun and there are so many helpful runners. I myself spent 15 minutes at the pontoons helping runners out of the water and onto the bank.
cant wait until next year to do it all over again

This was my first real OCR and I was a bit apprehensive. I’d previously done Mucky Races Fenland Dash which is more of a mud run and took about an hour to complete the 5k race. I booked to do the 6K Nuclear Rush and the spectators information said that most people complete the 6K in 1:00-1:15. As I’m not that fit I was expecting to take between an hour and a half and two hours. How wrong I was!

I was racing with my daughter and in the end it took us over three hours to complete the 6K course. Some of this was due to her falling badly off the Wonky Bars and hurting her knee but most of it was simply down to how gruelling the course was. The muddy trenches (Miles of Mud) and cargo nets alone must have taken us over 30 minutes.

However, despite the time it took us, and the pain my daughter was in by the end, we both absolutely loved the event and can’t wait to do another. For anyone who hasn’t done a Nuclear Races event I can’t recommend them enough. As soon as the 2016 season pass is available I will be buying it and booking all next year’s races. I may even try the 12k next year.

Nuclear do a deal with a Dryrobe and a race for £100 (I got mine for £95 before the price went up) and this is brilliant value.

The event village and general organisation was fantastic – great atmosphere and really well organised. The free photos on Facebook are just the icing on the cake.
